So, you have finally decided to go ahead and get yourself an e-book reader. Congratulations! However, you may still be wondering whether it is worth spending all that money for ANOTHER device that you have to carry around in your bags wherever you go. The answer - the new Kindle Paperwhite is worth every single penny you spend on it!Armed with Amazon's vast library of over a million books and access to programs like Prime Reading and Kindle Unlimited, you now have access to almost all the books you have ever thought of reading, all rolled up into one, snazzy, convenient device!FORMATS:The Kindle Paperwhite is a mid-range, lightweight e-reader that supports .AWZ and .MOBI file formats. These are the default formats in which your books are stored in the device when purchased from Amazon. If you have e-books in other formats such as .EPUB or .PDF, you can easily convert them into the other formats using a free tool from the internet, before storing them on your device directly via USB.EASE OF USE:The form factor is such that it lets you hold on to the device without the fear of slipping it from your hand, while the weight of the device ensures that there is no fatigue while you are holding it upright as you read. The device uses a material that provides ample grip as you hold it in any angle comfortable to you and can fit in one hand while you use the other to navigate. Also, for those who love to read in or around a pool, this device being waterproof comes as a pleasant surprise.DISPLAY:The 300 PPI glare free display with E-ink technology makes reading enjoyable even in direct sunlight where you feel like you are reading an actual page from a physical book. The dark mode and the light mode with adjustable brightness setting makes reading a breeze irrespective of the surrounding light or the time of the day you choose to use it in. The touchscreen is responsive and you will find the UI very intuitive and easy to navigate through. The best part about the Kindle Paperwhite is the backlit screen which is a blessing for most of us who like to read at night in the dark.STORAGE:Although the specs say that it has about 8GB of storage, you can use only about 7GB of it since the remaining part of the memory is taken up by the Kindle firmware (which gets regular updates to ensure a seamless experience). You can store over 6000 books on your Kindle which is more space than you will ever need. There is no expandable storage on the device but in all probability, you will not need it.BATTERY LIFE:For people who do not like having to charge their devices over and over again, this device will be a pleasant surprise. The Kindle Paperwhite can last up to 35 hours on just one charge with some adjustments to the basic settings. I read about 1.5 hours a day and my device lasts me about 2 whole weeks before I have to charge it again. With smartphones, smartwatches, smart home devices and everything else that needs to be plugged in frequently, I find that having one less device to worry about is an absolute blessing.FIRMWARE FEATURES:It has an integration with Goodreads where you can get regular suggestions for the best titles in the world and can create your own library or collection. The in-built dictionary along with integrated Wikipedia content helps a lot while you are reading and come across a word you want to explore the meaning of. The on board Wi-Fi connects seamlessly to your home network and allows you to research, browse and purchase books and topics of your choosing. You can also easily sync your content from Amazon and have e-books delivered to your devices in real time with just the click of a button. The Amazon app lets you manage your e-book library remotely without you having to fire up your Kindle.SHORTCOMINGS:I will list down some of the places where I feel the Kindle Paperwhite falls short. However, please bear in mind that I am only nitpicking at this point, since this device is aboslutely awesome.1. No Audible support for audio books in the Indian version (I don't miss it as much since I use Audible on my smartphone)2. No expandable storage3. Does not have Adaptive Brightness calibration (Not a feature you will really need, but it would have been a great add-on)4. For a device as future proof as the Kindle Paperwhite, the lack of a type-C charging port bothers me a little. If you want a fairly priced e-book reader with all the bells and whistles of a premium e-book reader, this is the device for you!

Mind blowing purchase. This is my second kindle. I already own basic kindle but thats difficult to read at night. But this kindle paperwhite 10th gen has inbuilt light which makes my night reading experience fantastic. I love the design and its sleek which is easy to hold for a long time.(Make sure to add a case for your kindle paperwhite for better durability.) I like the resolution, clarity and battery backup.

(The only option i could not find is DISABLE TOUCH.)

It has the features of kindle voyage and oasis. That is FLUSH SCREEN, WATER PROOF and like Oasis we can invert the background (black background with white letters). It has a built-in dictionary which will help to learn new vocabulary is a wonderful option. We can connect bluetooth and hear the audios of our favourite books.Over all its a boon to avid readers..

EDIT : Review of Kindle 10th gen after 2 months of usage : Everything is fine as i described above.DISABLE TOUCH option is enabled after further updating and it would prevent accidental touch(your page wouldn't change until you swipe horizontally). Also battery percentage is displayed at the top of the kindle. Battery backup is great. If you read maximum 2hrs per day, the battery would lasts for more than 10 - 12 days. You could also download your favourite books from other websites and convert it into kindle version via email. What else a Bibliophile wants more than this?

    - - Kindle Paperwhite vs Kindle Oasis - - -
Why should you pay double the amount of Paperwhite for Kindle Oasis just for 7 inches screen. That is what is the necessity of paying more just for 1 inch bigger screen? Kindle Paperwhite is awesome & affordable too. ♥️

According to me this kindle paperwhite is the best ever kindle models. I'm enjoying my fav books with my fav kindle paperwhite❤️❤️. Thank you amazon for the wonderful device.

Definitely one of the most valuable purchases I have ever made. Using it for the past three months. If you are obsessed with the smartphone, replace it with a kindle. You are more likely going to pick it up during the spare time. And never bother about those annoying notifications and popups anymore.

Now comes the most important question, the debate between paperback and ebooks. I too was concerned with it. But portability is a significant advantage. Hardbound paperbacks can be too hefty if you are on the go. On the flip side, E-readers lets you hightlight the passages and export the notes and store them digitally.

Now let's come to its pros and cons

    Pros
-Inbuilt dictionary gets the meaning of words (works offline)
-E-ink display doesn't strain your eyes like those lcd displays do
-Syncs your data with Goodreads (Community for readers)
-Reads almost all pdfs, not graphic intensive ones-(succeeded reading pdfs of size <300 MB.)
-Stores thousands of books. 8 GB is sufficient if you are not into huge pdf files
-Let's you send books to kindle through mail
    -Listen to audiobooks through bluetooth
-Battery lasts for more than a month
    -Vocabulary builder

    Cons
-Kindle ebooks are not free, but so many classics are available though( Get thousands of free books from openbooks, Gutenberg etc.)
-Not recommended for reading pdfs (Font size is too small, in fact display is too small to contain it)

    Last words..
Highly recommends it. And finally get the paperwhite variant if you are confused with basic, extra ppi do mater when reading images(spending the extra bucks is worth it). Blindly go for it. Happy reading.. 😜
Kindly UPVOTE if you found the review useful.

    Size: 8 GB Wi-FiVerified Purchase
This is my first Kindle; I used to read quite heavily on Tablets/Smartphones earlier but felt that affecting my eyes, so took the plunge and purchased the Kindle mainly because it had 8GB of storage.

    1) On unpacking, there was some message about updates and then it directed us to some help page. That help page did not exist. Thankfully, it updated something by itself and started working.
    2) I transferred a bunch of files via email. This was a very smooth experience and the files showed up immediately on the Kindle. However, they are not stored on the online amazon.in "content" page which seems to be only for e-books bought on the Kindle store.
    3) I have been reading for about 1.5-2 hours every day for the past week. I keep the screen light low and on Aeroplane mode, but I dont see the claimed "weeks of battery life". I have had to recharge twice already.
    4) Transferring books via the USB cable also was easy. But the books that I transferred dont seem to have a cover page. This could be my mistake when I converted the file to AZW3 format. I had a few epub format books earlier which I converted using Calibre software.
    5) Goodreads is integrated, so lists and recommendations are easy to keep up to date.
    6) As a Prime Member , I have Prime reading enabled. The catalogue looked ok if not terrible exciting. I get one ebook free each month (to buy). Have yet to check out the Kindle Unlimited catalogue.
    7) You cant switch the device off - you turn the screen off or else some screensaver keeps looping.

    Adjustment issues vs Tablet/Smartphone/Desktop
    1) Touchscreen is not very responsive; it takes about a second or so sometimes to move to the next page and I see other reviewers also mention that sometimes multiple pages are turned. You can zoom in/out to adjust the font size but it is better to use the settings to do this due to the slow screen. Scrolling up and down on the main landing page is tiresome as multiple touches are required to get this to work. In the personal on-device library page you can either scroll up or wipe right/left to go through the books, but this sometimes opens books by mistake and is irritating.
    2) I used Aldiko reader on the phone; somehow I liked the interface of that better than the Kindle. The Kindle is about keeping the ebook store on the main page instead of YOUR ebook collection. It takes a few clicks to get to the personal collection of books.
    3) I like that there is no glare on the screen and even in daylight it is easy to read the book. The screen light is not required in daylight.
    4) Black and White - I like reading decorating/DIY crafts or recipe cookbooks; on the B&W Kindle this is not a good experience as the rich colours and details are simply not there. Text renders very well.
    5) Screen refresh - if you read books that are heavy on graphics or photos, then each page turn causes the screen to turn black and then white as it refreshes the pixels(?). This made me nauseous and I had to stop reading books with complex pictures. You can turn off page refresh, but that does not stop refreshes for graphics. I have not tried reading comics and PDFs as yet but I dont anticipate a pleasant experience.
    6) Doesnt strain the eyes too much - I read at night, in the dark, just before sleeping (I have been trying to stop from a long time). The built in light is great and I find that the eyes dont hurt as much. Daytime reading is very pleasant.
    7) It takes time to adjust to the interface. On the smartphone there might be buttons to "go back" or swiping from the top of the screen shows different functions. On the Kindle, you have to touch the top of the screen and then select "back" or settings. This is a minor adjustment I suppose.
    8) There is an inbuilt experimental browser that can be used for browsing websites but it very slow and not of much use except for simple sites like wikipedia perhaps. Webpages and photos are horrible to read. (B&W!!)
    9) Very light weight and comfortable to hold even with one hand. My phone is heavier than it. I would have liked if came with a stand attached to prop it up on a pillow or cushion.

I havent tried the voice/bluetooth as yet or water proof feature :-)
